The Governing Board is being asked to receive an update on the development of the 2024-2025 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).

WHY (briefly explain why the action or discussion is important; and if applicable, how it is connected to site, district, or strategic plans)
This discussion is part of a series of discussions about the LCAP. The intent is to keep members of the School Board well-informed on the progress and development of the plan.

STRATEGIC PLAN/PRIORITY AREA:

Applies to all strategic plan areas.

HISTORY (list previous staff or board action(s) with dates if possible)

The Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) requires local educational agencies (LEAs) to engage their local educational partners in an annual planning process to evaluate their progress within eight state priority areas encompassing all statutory metrics (COEs have 10 state priorities).  LEAs document the results of this planning process in the LCAP using the template adopted by the State Board of Education.  The LCAP development process serves three distinct, but related functions: comprehensive planning, meaningful engagement, and accountability and compliance.  At its most basic, the adopted LCAP should attempt to distill not just what the LEA is dong for students in transitional kindergarten through grade twelve (TK-12), but also allow educational partners to understand why, and whether those strategies are leading to improved opportunities and outcomes for students.
